About Buller Electricity
Buller Electricity Limited is the local lines network company that supplies approximately 4,700 electricity consumers on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. We supply consumers across 4,345 sq km stretching from Karamea in the North to Meybille Bay near Punakaiki in the South a distance of more than 150 kms. Established in 1947, the Company is owned by its power consumers via the Buller Electric Power Trust.
While our core activity is electricity distribution Buller Electricity also operates a contracting business (Electro Services Limited) that performs maintenance and capital works for the electricity lines business and provides general electrical contracting services to the local Buller community and in the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough regions. In addition we are the majority owner of one of the fastest growing electricity retailers in New Zealand, Pulse Utilities New Zealand Ltd who retail under the Pulse Energy and Just Energy brands.
Buller Electricity’s net assets as at March 31 2011 were $20,775,000.
In accordance with the Company’s Shareholder Charter, Buller Electricity remains committed to being a good corporate citizen and continues to support the local community through sponsorship (2011 approximately $180,000) including an annual Scholarship programme identified as the Buller Electricity Scholarship Trust.
